A Flexible Approach to Learning
At Lotty Learns, we provide flexible tools that let you guide your child’s learning journey. We believe parents know best, so we avoid rigid steps or progress tracking. Instead, our interactive tools let children explore at their own pace with your support. By adjusting activities to your child’s needs, you create a personalized experience that fosters growth and confidence, making your involvement essential for success.
Supporting Your Child’s Learning Journey
Your involvement in your child’s learning plays a crucial role in their success. While our tools are intuitive and child-friendly, the guidance of a caring parent, guardian, or teacher is invaluable. Gently correcting mispronunciations, encouraging them to try again, and offering support when they get stuck all contribute to making learning meaningful and fun. If they’re frustrated, reassure them—learning is a journey, and every step counts. Together, we can ensure your child’s reading experience is positive and enjoyable, making every moment an exciting part of their progress with Lotty Learns.
Making the Most of Our Phonics Tools
Exploring Letters and Words
Encourage your child to click each letter to hear its sound, then repeat it aloud. Once they know the sounds, have them say them together to blend into words. Finally, guide them to click the button to hear the whole word and reinforce the sound blending.
Building Reading Independence
As your child gets more comfortable with letters and sounds, encourage them to try reading words without clicking right away. This builds confidence and independence. If they need help, they can click on letters or words for support, allowing them to progress at their own pace with guidance when needed.
Strengthening Reading Skills
When your child is ready, encourage them to read simple sentences on their own. Remind them they can click on words for help when needed. This builds fluency and helps them understand sentence flow, boosting confidence as they progress to longer sentences.

Reinforcing Learning with Printables
Printables are a great way to reinforce what your child has learned during their phonics practice. Encourage your child to use them to trace letters, identify words, or complete fun activities that connect to what they've explored in the Phonics Factory. These hands-on exercises help solidify their understanding while giving them extra practice in a different format, away from the screen.
Boosting Skills with Phonics Lessons
Our phonics videos are a great way to reinforce key concepts like letter sounds and blending. Encourage your child to watch regularly, as the lessons provide an engaging visual and auditory connection to their learning. These videos complement the interactive tools and printables, helping to strengthen your child’s phonics skills.

We recommend following this sequence to enhance your child's phonics learning:
Alphabet Discovery: Start with letter recognition and sounds to build a strong foundation.
Phonics Trainer:
Begin with CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant, like "cat" and "dog") and incorporate Sight Words 1 & 2 to build basic reading skills.
Progress to CVCC and CCVC words (words with consonant clusters, like "milk" and "stop").
Move on to Consonant and Vowel Digraphs (like "sh," "ch," "ea," "oo").
Introduce Sight Words 3 & 4 as your child advances.
Advance to Magic E words (words where the silent "e" changes the vowel sound, like "cake" and "kite").
Sentence Workshop: Apply the skills learned by reading sentences.
Start with the Beginner (uses words from CVC lessons and Sight Words List 1).
Move to the Next Steps (includes words from CVC lessons and Sight Words Lists 1 & 2).
Proceed to Big Reader (incorporates words from CVC lessons, Sight Words Lists 1 - 4, consonant digraphs and vowel digraphs).
If your child is using the Sentence Workshop and struggles with certain words, they can revisit specific Phonics Trainer sections to reinforce those concepts before trying again.
